HOME Welcome to BLOCK: Architecture Festival Glasgow 2005 produced by The Lighthouse, Scotland National Centre for Architecture Design and the City.

This year BLOCK returns with an eclectic programme of walks, talks, tours, exhibitions and events that celebrate Glasgow’s heritage, regeneration and built environment.

  
 

The Highlights
Highlights include a keynote lecture by acclaimed architect Zaha Hadid and the first UK showing of Landforms, which formed the Scottish display at the 2004 Venice Architecture Biennale. The Lighthouse will host a major urban summit: New Urbanism and the Future of Place Making, featuring high profile speakers.

Guided Tours
Guided tours proved such a hit in 2004 that the River Boat Tours and the hugely popular Glasgow Necropolis City of the Dead torchlight tours return alongside a host of new events. These include, Bikes & Buildings - an energising tour using cycle routes and architectural high points around the city and Architectural Stars & Bars - an opportunity to see how the architecture of Glasgow's bars has developed from the 19th century to the current day.

The events in the programme offer you a unique opportunity to scratch the surface of Glasgow’s renown architectural and built environment, and as such allocation of tickets is strictly limited to a first come first serve basis. Book early to avoid disappointment!
